Estimating the impact of vaccines in reducing antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic use: technical report
This report evaluates the role of vaccines in reducing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), highlighting their importance in preventing infections and reducing antibiotic reliance. It assesses 44 vaccines targeting 24 pathogens, including licensed and developing ones. The report uses a robust methodology to estimate the impact of these vaccines on health outcomes, antibiotic use, and economic costs. It also models the burden averted by vaccines and the feasibility of development for each pathogen. The findings emphasize the critical role vaccines play in national and global AMR mitigation strategies.
